Mulching beds - some basic ????

This is my first year, and I have questions about bed mulching:

First, what time of year should this be done?

Second, what, if any, bed preparation is required?

Third, how do you know how much mulch any given bed needs?

Fourth, how do you decide what to charge - strictly time + materials? Is there an approx time per yard of mulch?

Finally, how do you choose what type of mulch?

To the question above:

1. Anytime the customer will pay you to lay the mulch, But spring is when most customers what it done

2. Bed Prep: Clean out all debris and weeds, Edge the Bed, and take out old mulch if need be.

3. Calculate the square footage of the bed. Remember there is 27 Cubic feet in a Yard of Mulch.

4. I Charge Anywhere from $65 to $95 per yard depends on the terrain and type of mulch used 1 yard equals about 1 man hour.

5. I always have mulch samples in the truck for the customer to choose 99% of my customers use Triple ground black gold

Hope this helps
