marking sprinkler heads ect.yes no?

when I aerate in spring what is the best way to mark sprinkler heads and other small obstacles , I would think that the small plastic flags would be best , but I was wondering if their are any other options obviously it's not because they cost alot of money I just don't see walking 15+yards marking all of the sprinkler heads .Maby the question I need to be asking is should I take the time to mark them at all?

Drop the flags off a couple days before and have the homeowner mark them. That way you dont do it and they get to keep the flags for the next time.

In the past I have also had the homeowner do it,have not had a lot of problems with this though. If they do it tell them you are not responsible for them because you cannot see underground.

I will have the homowner do it if they can. That way if it's not marked it's there fault. Some of the little old ladies don't want to mark them so I will do it. I usually turn the system on and cycle it through the station to make sure I get all the heads. If I have to mark the heads I will charge a bit extra. When done I pull my flags and take them with me.

I always have the homeowner do it unless they aren't physically able to do so.

FINALLY a smart reply from the packer. with one exception, they give me my damn flags back when i'm done. it is best to have the client mark them for a couple reasons. #1- it takes time. #2- if one is missed, and u wack it, oh well, not your fault.

Have the Homeowner mark them and you pick then up. But you have to mark the valve covers too. And most people dont know where they are. Make sure they know and mark. I hit one on the edge and drove the whole box down on the pipe which bent and broke the pipe. That was a lot harder and more time consuming than replacing a head.

I don't even waste my time by going back there and dropping flags off. If they are ok with the estimate while I am there, then I will give the flags for them to mark. If they call and ok the bid over the phone and they don't have flags, I usually tell them to use plastic sporks....or what ever. I had one guy use pens and pencils and stuck pieces of paper on them. They don't have to be fancy and I am not wasting my time doing this.

I wait for nice hot day, put my best speedo on with my goggles and then turn the sprinklers on. Brings me back to the days when I didn't have a care in the world, I think I was about 5.
