ice = downed trees = $$$$
Over the last 24 hours we got a major ice storm and trees are down all over the place, 2 in our back yard. We got a new stihl chainsaw 2day
and i was planning to go out 2marrow and doing some cleanup. The city offers free dumping of limbs. I just dont know what to charge for this work. I was think of charging by the truck load (s-10) but i dont know how much.?. Any suggestion or tips would be appeciated.

As to the dumping... my curiousity in this field of yalls is this... Why do you cut down trees, and then haul off, what I will assume are faily decent sized logs to a dump, when you could sell em off to somebody (or do it yourself) that wants to cut them up and sell them for firewood?

A lot of times the firewood deal isn't worth it. There were threads on this not long ago. The arborist I worked under only kept a small amount of it for himself, The trucks got cut up and set in chip box and dumped. The limbs went through the chipper. The wood has to cure before sale and all the handling of it makes it not really worth while. In areas where there is heating oil you can get a premium for cured firewood if the price of the oil goes up but in other areas you'd lose $ on it. It's really relative to where you are and what market value is. Here we have mild winters and city has no burn days so low demand.

I would charge $60.00 hr for cutting with a 1 hour minimal and additional $25.00 for each dump trip you make.
