eric, other than maybe giving the overall look a refresher, and a couple of tweaks, i think it serves the purpose you need. i'd be more interested in making sure it shows up on the major search engines so that the site is not simply accessed through your print marketing materials.

tweaks:

i'm not big on the flash logo, so really i see no need for it, especially if someone is not running flash. do they at least get a standard image logo to load? in glancing at the code, i didn't see one.

the other thing is that on high-res monitors, the page sprawls all over the place making it a bit tedious to view (imagine reading a book where the text spans across both pages). i'd narrow the page to something more readable, either through content tables or absolute positioning.

cheers.

Needs a logo, or if there is one I can't see it.

I am staring a at a high res flat screen and it does not seem to sprawl.

But other than that I like it!

sorry, should have referenced my set-up and how i see it:

laptop running 1400x1050

the following text shows as one continuous line across the screen:
"We are a small, locally owned business with affordable pricing structures and no large crews. The owner is always the job foreman in order to ensure "

as readers, we are conditioned by printed material (newpaper columns and books), which is why constraining text is a good idea.

Appears nice.

If it was mine, I'd try to replace the photo with the vertical mowing lines with another photo of diagonal lines.

Looking straight on, any deviation in the pattern is obvious. But from the side, angled lines always look perfectly perfect because the "wows" are not detectable.

Still a nice photo though.

Eric, I would fill in the box along the left hand side of the screen that contains the navigation menu to the green that you are using on the site. Then change the font color in the menu to white. I think that this would make the menu stand out more.

Also, the "Contact Us" form needs some work. I would have the contents in a borderless table to better control the alignment. This would give it a more professional look. (below is an example of how a form like this might start to look). Right now all the text and input boxes seem to be just scattered.

I also wouldn't ask for so many phone numbers and best times to call. Ask for one contact number and one best time to call.

The form also doesn't go through any validation prior to submitting. You may want to work in some JavaScript code to make sure that certain required fields get populated. I just submitted a completely empty form and your site accepted it and thanked me for submitting it. If you fail to get a phone number and the person filling out the form mistakenly fills out the e-mail address (lets say they enter "johndoe.com" when it should have been "johndoe@hotmail.com") you wouldn't have any way of contacting them. Meanwhile they think they have submitted a valid form and are waiting for you to call.

Hope this helps....

First Web page, please critique

This is my first web presence, so any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please take a look at the estimate page and give suggestions on how to rework it so that it emails me what people want estimates on. What I currently get is what pops up after submit is pressed.

Thanks,

Jeremy
