Cummins engine has 41k miles on it. Seems to be in very good shape. Dealer asking 26k. Any thoughts on to whether or not this is a good deal? Edmunds.com says it's worth $23,214 while kbb.com says $29,480.

I meant to say they are asking $28k.

    Thanks for the input.

41K for a cummins is just about broke in. :D
If it has had proper service during those 41K miles you should have a really nice truck that will last a long while.
I've run across a few with over 250K on the clock and they are still running great.

Any service records available? Either from the previous owner or the dealer?
That would be of great help.
(I keep track of every single thing I do to my PSD. I document everything in the owners manual and save the reciepts.)

I have had PSD's for awhile now but I still have a weak spot for the Cummins.

You did say they were "asking" 28. Play some hardball and see where it goes.
    Good luck. :D

said they didn't have any service records on it. this truck is actually at a Ford dealship. ironic.

i hear you on the engine longevity, etc. that's the main reason for a diesel. i'm just trying to make sure i'm not getting ripped off by a dealer. ;-)

    Forgot about one thing.
    Carfax.
The dealer there should be able to get any doc. history on the truck. All they need is the VIN #.
    Any warranty?(From the dealer there)
You should have the warranty from Dodge as well.

Also are you doing a trade?
I would avoid it if you are and sell your current ride yourself.
If you are doing a straight buy you should be able to work a good deal.

Financing there or are you going to line it up before hand? If you are setting up your own financing and go in prepared to make them an offer that will be in your benefit.
When I bought mine I had already lined up financing before I went in. I locked in a good interest rate just in case the dealer wanted to play games with the numbers.
They ended up doing better than what I had because they wanted the sale.

Take your time. Don't let 'em push.

    :D
