got a 02 chevy silverado with a 8.1l was wondering about the spark plugs, are those magneto's on the valve cover? looks kinda amazing to me! all look good except 2 of them that look bran new, got the truck 2 months ago and finally got a chance to go over everything. boy is this thing a monster to! 8.1 gotta love it. gas milage is not all that bad either, like 8-10 around town 10-14 highway, pulling trailer 8 mpg..... still not bad alot better then our older dodges!

anyone have the 8.1 in there chevy? what seems to be the big problem with them? i do not have any problems currently, just asking for future reference.

yeah the 6.0 is an awesome truck too and it gets about 9-10 hauling. they both pull trailers great but the 8.1 has alot more power. if it was between the 8.1 and 6.0 i would defenitly go 8.1 because the millage isnt a whole lot different between the two but you get a lot more power. what do you haul with yours? sorry im no help on the spark plugs lol

Sounds like each plug has it's own coil. Common enough with modern electronic ignitions. I would ask the dealer about it if you have specific questions, or search a chevy truck forum.

Have an 04 2500HD with the 8.1 and allison and about to hit 90k on it. No problems with the engine or trans (knock on wood). Have been through one instrument cluster, two speedometers, two alternators, gave up after three tailgate door handles, heating coil just went but had mechanic bypass it, and my A/C decides to stop working after awhile until I can stop and restart the car.

Other than that :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: its been fine.
