going to pick up an 04 Chevy 3500 mason dump tomorrow. Only 36k miles, great shape, gas 2wd, $16,000.....I think good deal, everything else is top dollar or beat to death around here. Just looking for a price check...good deal, bad deal or average deal?
    thanks in advance

That is a decent price. NO pictures to comppare but I am looking as well but need a 4x4 for mud and winter time. I would rather pay alittle more for a decent truck than one that has been beat a bit or a ton of miles.

I've looked at two of them in that vintage, only difference is they were 4 wheel drive, both were $18-20,000.
I just bought a 2005 mason dump, 4x4 with 50k for $17,000 (dealer was consigning it for $19,900, I got ahold of the owner and got it direct from owner for cheaper). Really clean. I think your deal is a good one.

I would try to get them down on the price, I picked up the same truck but 02 with 6k miles on it for just under 10k just before winter. I lost a day to drive there and back but I think it was worth it. Dump trucks are hard to find because there either way overpriced or beat to death.

Yup, it was used by a small church for grounds maintance etc which they hired a contactor to do so they didn't use it for the previous couple months. They had all the records and serviced the truck every year even though they had 5600 miles when I picked it up. I couldn't believe someone didn't buy it, the only thing it needed was a new battery, changed all the filters and fluids just in case and a good wash because I don't think anyone ever washed it.
