So I'm setting up my 1500 to get ready to tow a single trailer for the company in the future. I bought the truck it had the trailer wiring already there, but didn't have a hitch so I put a hitch on it and backed it up to my father in laws trailer... hooked it up to test the lights and the lights on the trailer were very very dim...but they're not dim when they're hooked up to his truck? Any possible causes?

Your tk supplying the gnd to the trail is bad. Didn't say what year your 1500 was either.

Oh haha, so would that be in the trailer harness or somewhere else?

Might have lost gnd somewhere by the wiring harness in the rear

I hooked up to the trailer completely, ball and all and the trailer lights work with the 4 pin, but not the 7 pin of my adaptor.

    1) new ball (prolly chrome plated) = poor ground. will correct itself with a trip around the block.
    2) Not working w/adapter? Wrong adapter. I have one with a changeable center pin. Works for all major manufacturers

Not a new ball a very well used ball, it's a universal adapter from Tractor Supply, non changeable center but its a Hopkins brand.
