you're supposed to cut your grass down as low as possible prior to aerating/overseeding. I cut my grass at 3 3/4" on Monday. Should the next cut be an inch lower? Then the next time I cut another inch lower then the previous and then aerate/overseed? I know it's not healthy to cut more than a 1/3 of the blade. Or do I just cut it as low as possible in one cutting, will it hurt my grass in any way?

    Thanks, Greg

I never lower the mower more than 1/4 inch at a time, I can not see putting the grass into stress to aerate, but that's me. I imagine it depends on the type of grass and if lowering the mower cuts below the sheath. I would think if you can get it between 2.5 to 2.75 you ought to be low enough to get sun to the seed.
