We have a 2003 Walker. It has a 18hp Kohler. The engine provides plenty of power but even since the very first day it will frequently diesel after I shut it down. I talked to the dealer and he recommended letting it idle on the trailer for 15 to 45 seconds after use before shutting it down. That does not help either. It is a newer engine for Kohler but haven't they been around long enough to eliminate goofy things like backfires and dieseling. Anybody else have this problem with their 18hp Kohler V-Twin. Thanks.:p

That engine has a fuel shut off solenoid that should stop any backfireing or running on. Have your dealer check that.

May try going to colder spark plugs & see if that fixes it

I have a 20 Koh on Walker. give it a quick burst of throttle then

shut off. Try lfting the box to let out more heat. ed

Also, try lowering the idle just a bit. This helped on my 14 kohler. Scott

Just like edward said, just throttle up to about half throttle or faster then turn off key. Kohler even says to do this. I have to do it on my walker 20hp kohlers too.
