    When not running the carb floods and fills oil crankcase with gas. Does the solenoid on the front of carb stop this? If so how do I check it?

    Nope the fuel cut-off solenoid only stops fuel flow to the main jet to help deter back firing.

    Your problem is trash in the float needle valve area or a bad needle valve, If I were going into it I would just replace it and be done with it.

    Check your tank for trash, flush fuel lines and replace fuel filter after repair.

    If trailering around all day turn the fuel off so bouncing doesn't cause a flood situation.
