1983 k-20 4+4 ?

    Would anyone know what transfer case is on my 1983 Chevy K-20 6.2 Diesil ? And how can I tell what transfer case I have, One other question I have is can I disingage 4+4 while going down the road, or must I stop and be in neutral ? any help would be great .. Thanks Brandon

    Whick tranny do you have? You should have the NP 208 t case, you can tell if it is that unit, the case will be aluminum. If for some reason you have a cast iron t case, you will have a NP 205.
    The other way to tell is from your shift patten on the t case handle.
    If it is the following = 208
    Starting with the shifter towards the dash
    2 high
    4 high
    N
    4 low

    If it is the following = 205
    4 low
    N
    2 high
    4 high

    Thanks for the info, I must have the NP 208 the pattern is the same as you had wrote, and it is aluminum, But My other Question is, Can I disinage on the fly or must Be in Neutral and stoped ?
