Driving today and the front of my driveshaft broke. 1993 f-350 7.5 liter 460 manual transmission 137" wheelbase 4wd. I need help finding a replacement no one around here has a used part and the Ford dealership quoted me $700.00 for a new one. Looked at websites but thought someone on here might be familiar with some good ones. I am in NJ but willing to pay to ship it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Most of the time you can have them repaired or a new one built far cheaper than that.
    Check your yellow pages.

Typical Ford...They like their parts and are not afraid to charge for them. Do a google search in your area. Look for Driveshaft, or driveshaft repair. Typically you can have an entire shaft made with two new U-joints for under $350.00. The last one I had made for an F-450 cost $280.00 and some change, and that was with both U-joints new.
Or, if you feel lucky and can weld, you can carefully grind off the bead around the yoke, get a new tube, then hammer in the yoke. It will self center because it is tapered. Balancing is a bit more tricky, we only used that method one snowy night when no shops were open. That night we used a 3.5" ID hunk of pipe I had laying around for something....It got us through the night!

Actually the only thing that broke is one "eye" on the yoke..gonna see if someone can do a repair to it, the actaul shaft is fine.

Don't be surprized if when you get it repaired they tell you it is bent. They will put it on the lathe and true it up. If it's bent, replace it. Or it might be a good bone yard item.
