I just bought a Stihl HS-45 hedge trimmer. A sign on the wall said to use 93 octane gas in all 2 cycle engines. I've never heard this before. Is there a value in using this higher octane gas? Also, what is the best 2 cycle oil to use in the mix?

If Stihl makes oil, I would use it. The manual calls for 89 octane. Here is the link. Check under fuel. It states that if mid grade is lower than 89(R+M/2) use premium.

I have always used 87 octane with my Stihl trimmer and never had a problem. I also use the Stihl branded oil and mix at 50:1.
