Having very little mechanical experience I ask the following question. Can you change a single speed machine to a 2 speed. Or is it cost prohibitive?

I'm sure it's possible, but it definetly wouldn't be worth the coin. It's kind of like adding hi-flow, only a lot harder and more expensive.

Yeah! That is what I was expecting. No point trying to make it into something it wasn't designed to be. I think I will make do with what I have since I don't really want to cough up the extra for a newer machine. Thanks dozerman21!

That 1840 should be a good machine for you. Basic, but usually very dependable and you don't have a ton invested in it. If you start making some money with it and want something a little newer with more power, the Case XT Series were pretty big hits. Then you'll have your 2-Speed!:)
