if that truck is a 4x4,,expect 9-12 mpg,a 2wd shoulddo at least 1 mpg better.I dont klnow of any problems with them other than poor resale.Consider the Powerstroke if your goingto br running a lot of miles,or pulling,it will more than pay for itself+ resale is much better.

I have a 31' class c motorhome with the v10,4.88 rear gear and I get 9mpg highway, pulling a GMC Jimmy. The engine runs smooth as a clock, has more than enough power on the hills.I love the V10 and never had a problem with it. Would buy another!

Dittio what John said. I had a gas before getting my diesel, the difference saved in fuel and time stopping for gas every 3 days more than makes up for the difference. You can invest your money the diesel engine or give it to the gas stations...

I get 13 mpg pulling my 16' trailer and get 19-20 on the highway.

If you have to ask then maybe you should consider a diesel.

I just bought a 2000 F-250 XL 5.4 V8. It pulls my 6.5 X 12 loaded with equipment and 2 yds of bark in the bed with zero problems. I havent figured out what kind of mileage im getting, I just bought it on the 23rd. I thought about the Powerstoke diesel, but in my mind stop and go from lawn to lawn just doesent seem right for a diesel. I considered the V10 but its thirsty. I probably would have bought the V10 if it was in the truck I just bought, this truck was the only one on the lot. I got a good deal on it, it has 28000 mi which is pretty low for a 2000. I got it for $17000 minus $10,000 for my trade in ,which was payed off.

I have the V10 in an xtra cab 4x4 w/ 3.73, auto. I get around 12 mpg with an evan mix of hiway and round town. I get upper teens on long hiway runs. So far no problems, plenty of HP and tourque. If you don't like diesels this motor is for you. As far as resale, i've never sold a truck, I work em right to the end.
