Iam new to all this but i have a 22hp briggs that the push rod came loose and went into the bottom of the engine.. We took it apart, Found the old rod. replaced the seal and gasket. put it all back together with a new push rod and now I cant get the govener to work.. when you start it the engine runs to fast and i cant get it to slow down. Any idea on what I did.. I put everything back on like I took it off... Just kind of lost about what could of happened in the bottom end.. Thanks keith

Sounds like the governor is not adjusted properly.

Loosen the nut that holds the governor arm to the governor shaft, put the thing at full throttle (not choke), and hold the lever all the way that it is trying to go at full throttle, all while turning the governor shaft all the way it's trying to go at full throttle. Then re-tighten the nut.

    Should fix the problem.
