Is there a new 30"+ walk behind mower for 2017?
Example being like the Toro or Exmark 30" walk behind.
I do know that Craftsman has a new one in this size range.
Please check out the new hydros from Sarlo Power Mowers in Fort Myers, FL.
The BigMo 30" single blade and the all-new BigMo 34" with a patented new deck design may be what you're looking for. Big 10.5 Hp Briggs engines, deep decks with great lift and an outstanding cut.
They are heavy-duty, American made and come with a 2-year commercial warranty. Please visit: www.sarlomower.com or the Sarlo YouTube channel for information.
Thanks, Mo Sharpley - Sarlo Power Mowers, Inc.

Is the 34 a timed deck and what is patented or different than any other 32"-36" two blade deck? I watched your vidio, it says inline spindles but I don't see a timed belt. How do the blades overlap without hitting? Mulch kits?
We see Exmark's Commercial 30 priced at $1,899. (1 year comm. warranty)
The Toro Turfmaster 30 shows online at $2,110. (Also 1 year warranty)
The Sarlo BigMo 30 retails for $1,999. -Mo
It would be nice if there was a dealer in Arkansas. I like the fact that your mower is not belt driven and also has the big motor on it. Only thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger on your mower is that it doesn't have a bag. I need one for scalping lawns and my 30" Exmarks aren't up for the job.
I'm relatively new (under 2 years) to the Sarlo team, but the company is family-owned and they pioneered the high-wheel walk design back in 1935.
The history as I understand it, is that after the first patents ran out, a number of manufacturers copied the design. Although they are long gone, Yazoo/Kees were among the most prolific of those.
Sarlo was the first, and now I think we're the last with a high-wheel product. - Mo Sharpley
We do over 200 gated props and Never Seen a 3' gate. Where I'm at they are either 34" which a 32" Walk clears or 38" which a 36" perfectly clears....There are a Limited number of 30" gates here as well.
Since 34" Mowers are Much More Rare than 32" and 36" Mowers....I am assuming that 3' gates are as well.
This question of how big is a typical yard gate seems impossible to answer. I don't doubt there are gates out there that are more narrow than 36 inches. Commonly. And, the default opening seems to jump to 48 inches from there.
I saw a LawnSite thread dating back to 2003 where the guys couldn't decide on an answer to the question either.
I Googled the question. Fence companies seem to want to tell you gates come as wide as you want them. They inevitably ask the question, "What do you want to pass through the gate? How big is your lawnmower? How about parking your RV?"
The BigMo 34 would clear the opening in your photo, eyes closed. It is appropriately powered compared to other "commercial 30s" pros choose over 21-inch machines as a more productive gate mower. It cuts 60% more than the 21s. And, for maneuverability and space on the trailer, check out the footprint...

Two Reservations I have about this Mower are Single Hydro and Block off Plate for Mulching.
Owned a 32" Ferris Single Hydro and it will Beat You Up if using 6-8hrs per day....fine for Occasional Use or as Back up.
Without Chamber Baffles forget about Mulching Real Thick Stuff. Grass goes from Second Chamber to Discharge Chamber...hits the Plate and leaves a trail or clumps.
Two valid points, although ocdc really not a good option for a small mower on a
small yard IMO. Mulch or bag , preferably rear bagging as side bagging really slows down the process.
I thought large blade would actually be better mulching wet, High tip speed , low RPM lets clippings fall in between blade rotation , large area to disperse clippings in center of deck less grass packing , plenty of room for directional baffling to customize airflow ALA new Walker mulch decks. No interference or vortexes from opposing blade airflows. I actually see see lots of possibilities. Downside , long deck that will scalp at low cut heights, my 42 is shorter, any gain over my true floating 42 is gate clearance.
Here are our thoughts on the single blade and the two Sarlo Hydros:
One of the benefits of the single blade deck is the momentum. The long blade acts like a flywheel and has tremendous stored energy to power through thick, wet stuff. Combine that with our big engine and the 30" machine is a monster. Commercial cutters have also been very complimentary of the 5" deep deck performance and the amazing lift on the 30.
The 34 design should improve performance over uneven terrain and give operators greater leverage generally over the machine. The twin-blades won't have the momentum of the single, but with our high horsepower, it's not an issue on finished turf. The double-blade arrangement of the TwinTrack design effectively provides double-cutting of the grass in a single pass. - Mo Sharpely
I have a guy offering a partial trade he has a 30inch exmark with a bagger. Maybe 4 years old looks decent shape. I know nothing about these mowers what would you value it at even worth partially trading? $500 $700? Any ideas?
That's perfect for most 3' gates as a lot of 36" mowers wont go through the gates due to being 37"+
Please lose the height adjusters and use TTHP/ Walker type drilled rods with 1/2 holes, using 1/4 or 1/8 spacers. 1/2 height adjustments don't cut it for those of us who cut between 2-3" and need to match up mower heights on the same yard with our bigger mowers. Floor deck height may be the same but different weight or suction make fine field adjustments necessary, you present design creates a problem for that. Your design already makes it a easy improvement and would not raise the cost of the machine much.
Hey Dishboy, I wanted to get back with you on this. I totally understand wanting to fine-tune your height of cut in those situations.
Don't mean to put it on our end-users, but this is such a very simple and cheap solution it almost begs your attention.
Our advice is to remove one of the 1/2" spacers from each caster fork and replace them with (4) 3/4" SAE flat washers to a side. The washers are nominally 1/8" thick and allow a customer to perfectly match the height of a second/different mower. Make sense? - Mo

Makes great sense but does not address rake issues. What is factory rake set at? Pulling washers is also slow and a pain and involves getting grease on hands, clothes when on a caster wheel. There's a reason Exmark and everybody else offers hanging decks on everything except budget offerings.
I did, 42" Belt drive walk behind mulching mower. , 14 HP Kawasaki , true floating deck like a Walker hung by Walker pins, Timed mulch deck with a shorter wheel base than any 36 hanging deck machine on the market 35.5" with 5" of trim on both sides of the deck. Under 400 lbs. Damn , now what ya got?
Their mower is a good start, it has some compromises such as Briggs 10.5, have you ever ran that engine, it's louder than crap at least put a Honda on there like World, Which btw , look at Worlds 28......Single hydro , a belt drive is more useful IMO. Height adjusters, that would be my first modification. Mulch kit??? bag???? Owners manual , online parts, they are really not ready for this show yet ,but your right they have been around since 1939....not in this market tho......you are right , nobody has gotten the 30-34 inch mower right yet, certainly not the big boys who can support their mower.
My next project, Walker 36 mulch deck coupled to a belt drive , should kill the need for a 21- and 30 . true floating deck with a flip up design.
