I've narrowed down my decision of a ZTR to a Ferris IS1500Z. Now my only decision is between a 44" w/ a 19 HP Kawasaki and a 48" w/ a 21 HP Kawasaki. The difference in price is only $300, but a big concern of mine is cut quality. Many people have said that the cut quality goes down as the deck size increases and that even in this case (only 4 inches), there's a noticable difference between the 2 sizes. Has anyone found this to be true? I mow Bermuda very low, so small differences are noticable.

    The other considerations are:
+ 44" - Possibly able to get through more gates.
    + 48" - Slightly greater trimming capability.
+ 48" - More productive since it cuts more at a time.

first, you should have posted this in a comm lawn care.

second, i have an exmark 44, so i can't commend on quality. i think there is a guy "All feris"....ask him.

third.....i'd go with the 48, the bigger the better.

4th, you are right aboutthe gates. i have one....i JUST fit in.

    5. Demo both and see the quality.

    6. do a search on feris and cut quality or something like that.

    7. hope that helped.
