If gate size is no issue, are there any disadvantage to a 48 inch GHS deck, compared to the 42 inch GHS (for a Walker MT23)?

    Thanks for the help!

I can't think of any disadvantage to a larger deck.

I'd take the 48" any day... Actually, I have one, lol. With the 23hp and the "new" 10.5" blower you will likely never see a clog-up like the older 48" decks were prone to do in the super wet conditions (like dew).

I don't know what the word on the street is about the 52" GHS decks anymore. They were all the talk when they were coming out and now I haven't heard a peep about them in about a year. No one is buying them I guess?

After owning two 48" Velocity decks, I will never own another 48" deck again; regardless of what anyone says the extra 6" of cutting swath is not equal to the superior cut quality, tight trimming capabilities, a 42" deck offers. Unless you don't want a money making, versitale 42" deck, or like some folks start a fence or gate widening business with a 48" deck:laugh:. We are much faster without the 48" decks, the 42" is a better all around mowing deck, superior trimming in tight areas, or around lots of obstacle's, in between trees & curbs, those grass'd islands with light poles & fire hydrants; consequently we spend far less time weedeating, and finish quicker with a 42" deck. I would purchase another 60" ZTR before a 48" ZTR.
