48" or 54"

    Thanks for all the comments on the 345. I have pretty much decided that I will buy the Deere 345 next spring. I will use this tractor to maintain about a half an acre of my own. As well as some light residential/commercial mowing. Which deck would be better, the 48" or 54"? The 48" is good because you could get into some tight spots. However, the 54" also seems great because there is more of an overhang that would be perfect for trimming around things. I dont have too many obstacles on my property, mowing other people's lawns is what I am worried about. What do you all think? All comments are appreciated. Thanks, Kyle
     
  2. Well since we don't know what you have and you did answer the question on your own, the 48" would fit the bill.

    I have the 54" on a 335 JD, and had a LX277 with the 48". The 54" cuts better and is easier to trim with, the 48" is too little for the 345. I could make you a good deal on my 335, 20hp, 54" deck, 2000 model, very little mowing time, mainly used for pulling a sprayer and a sweeper.
