50 Accounts unreasonable?

    Hey all, I only have a handful of accounts currently(not really trying to hard, waiting for next season) and working my regular job(also in lawn care) and doing those on the weekends. I am wondering if(in your experience) gaining 50 accounts in a season is a reasonable goal or not? I am trying to set some goals to reach for in my first full season(I started late this season), but I am not trying to set pie in the sky goals. I am figuring 50 is decent, but not too sure.

    Should I shoot for 40 or less? possibly more than 50?

    Depending on how many other LCO companies are in your area 50 could be attainable in one season but it's probably going to be on the high side, I would guess the average number of clients a new company attains in their first year would be more like 30-40. Of course in some areas a person might gain more and some areas less, 50 is a good goal to shoot for though.

    For all the new guys that started this year, how many clients have you landed so far????

    just have 6 at the moment, nothing great, but 1 of the guys gave me 3(his and than 2 more) so that's kinda cool, but not really making anything from it just yet.

    The only thing with my situation is Michigan is on life support, luckily I live near the richest areas in the state, but the economy is in the dumps which probably means people are not willing to pay(I won't drop the gate for less than 35$) as much, even my boss has taken some hits with his business over the past few years as well.

    by next season i wanna try get 30 accounts yeah you probably could do 30 to 50

    If you advertise alot you'll probably get there but!!! you'll probably have alot of PITAS Myfirst year or two I had alot of rollover in customers. I took customers just to have accts in hope I could get in to the area. Youll wind up weeding out the Pitas and building up a route. And then when people in the area see you regularly then you'll get more customers. It pays to be friendly to people you see while your working!!

    This is my first year back in the business and I have 56 accounts this year. I did alot of advertising in the beginning with door hangers and stuff, but most of my work came from referels. I also do this part-time because I work a full time job during the day. Hopefully next year I want to double in size and go full time.

    When I first started I had around 25 to 30 clients my first year. Luckily I was able to retain nearly all of them and add around 15 to 20 more clients the following year. I think a lot it depends on the size of your client's lawn and the other services that they request beyond cuttings.

    I started this year part time also and have picked up 30 accounts. I did advertise in early spring, but 75% of my customers were picked up by just being in the neighborhood. Picked up about 1-2/week most of the summer.

    We gain 30 or so accounts a season.
