I have a few 60" mowers and was looking at a 52". Do you think you would notice much of a different in cutting time. The lawns would be around 10k sq/ft and under for the most part.

I think you would see about 8" more cut grass per pass with a 60 vs a 52!

More importantly, I would say yes any increase is great, use the largest mower you can fit on the property or that is most efficient for most of your work. Also how you use the mower is important, do you take time to line up each pass, with an inch or two overlap? or are you a little less anal about the stripes and just go pass after pass with more overlap etc?

you may find that it actually saves a little time..depends how tight your lawns are on open space..on wide open areas obviously the 60 will cut more...but it is less maneuverable in tight areas.....the largest we will put on a residential lawn is 52...

I was thinking if I used it on most of the smaller lawns I wouldn't see much of any difference. And like said above, maybe save a few minutes a tighter properties where I can get in tighter spots.

we found that using 48 in standers was more effiecent than our 60 in riders

Now thats interesting. What size lots are you typically on? Does the stander speed things up being able to jump on and off quickly? Do you bag the lawns?

With my 52 rider I can takes turns fast and it is very nibble around tight spots and playgrounds.

10K and smaller lawns, stick with a 52" deck. Even a 48" is more universal to fit on most everything. Just my opinion. I do own a 61" grasshopper and I know what the limitations are and it's the reason I also have a 48" walker... Granted I can do some tiny areas with the grasshopper, but they are part of larger areas, like in HOA's where there's wide open areas as well as the small front yards. Ideally I'd rather use the 48" for the front yards just because it does look better, both the end result as well as from a customer relations standpoint. Bigger isn't always better...

Alot of you will disagree, but I think the best all-around, most versatile mower I ever used was the 52" Ex-mark hydro walk-behind with jungle wheels.
