I'm curious to learn what opinions there might be out there regarding these two deck sizes. I have around 4.5 acres of mostly flat land with only one slightly steep slope. Of course I have a few trees along with flower beds. I realize that manuverability is important around the landscaping but are there any other drawbacks to a 72" deck when compared to a 60" deck? Thanks!:usflag:

Drawbacks 72 inch compared to 60 inch:
    1. Requires more power
    2. Larger blades to sharpen and balance
    3. Normally will cost more to purchase and operate

Benefits 72 inch compared to 60 inch:
    1. Cover more area in the same amount of time
    2. Looks more impressive

    Sorry, all I got.

Don't forget the 72 will scalp alot eisier than the 60, & the 72 cannot get into as many places as the 60.

the 60 will mow almost as fast as a 72 on 4.5 acres.

The 72 will also span slight hills and dips and not cut the grass in between.

Heck, I went from a 52 to a 61 and see a big difference. I scalp where I didn't used to, I can't crest some hills I used to, and the places that aren't very flat and level, I span more.

The 60" will be more versatile if you ever have plans to cut somewhere else.

Depending On What Model You Get In Each Some Models You Can Get A 60 With A Larger Frame And It Will Cut Just As Fast As A 72
