That is a serious mower you have there Lynn.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_2_54.gif' border=0></a>

Nice work Lynn! I can't get my twin to cut that nice. It must be the East Coast grass (LOL).

Thanks Apples, I've had as many as 4 twins in the past as well as a couple of XT3000-72's and have finally settled on 4 72" DC diesels. I've got 3 XXWD5000-72's and a slightly bumped up(HP wise)XXWD2600-72. Since fuel has gone crazy I'm glad I switched to all diesels. I've saved a bunch of cash already and haven't seen any more maintenance problems to this point. We cut some serious grass in a weeks time and am absolutely thrilled with the performance of the 50hp Dixies. I really liked the twins, and they probably are still the most bang for the buck, but can't match the torque or the fuel economy of the diesels...........Lynn

Man those are very nice, there is a lot cut by my house with a DC and it gives great stripes like that. Im really impressed every time I drive by.

Hey Lynn, I picked your brain on this subject last year on the DC
site. When the rep brought a 50hp diesel to try last year,it nearly
stalled in 6" of grass. I had my heart set on a diesel, but it was tough to justify after that demo. Something must have been wrong with that diesel.Have you had any mods done to your decks? What is the pitch of your decks? And finally, what tire pressure do you use? Thanks Lynn

Mike, I don't have any problems with 6" or 12" grass with my 50's. I don't know what was wrong with your demo unit, but it obviously was not set up correctly to mow a finished cut or you'd have been seriously impressed. All of my units are set at level pitch decks front to rear and give excellent results. Some prefer a 1/8" inch lower pitch in front, but I've found the DC's do a much better job being level front to back. Any more questions feel free to ask.....................Lynn

Mike, I forgot to tell you that we've removed all the wipers from our pre 2004 decks and they perform beautifully. All our rear tire pressures are 10LBS................Lynn

haven't tried the x-blades yet, but will one of these days. We use the meg-mo's and regular 3" wide blades..........Lynn
