Hay guys, I got a 95 ford F250 with a 5.8 efi in it and have been having problems with it lately. alot of times when i end up coming to stop lights i notice that it seem to get stuck in high idle somehow, and the only way to fix it it to shut it down and restart it,then its good, also at 1/4 throttle or slightly less sometimes it surges power and is really unpredictable, lots of power then all the suddon it almost dies out. Died on me last week for about a hour and a bit then just all the suddon started right back up, and then somedays its runs just perfect no problems at all, do you guys got any clues to what it might be or have you expecienced this in your truck... thanks alot

Check your throttle position sensor. I had a similar issue, and that was the culprit, easy fix too.

Ditto to above. I had my throttle position sensor go out earlier in the year. That and a new pcv valve and I was good to go!

my 95 f150 w/ the 5.8L was doing the same thing to me a few years ago, and come to find out it had a bad sensor can't remember which one though...kinda pricey in my opinion. good luck

I have the same engine in an E150 van, and am having the exact same problem right now. I need dvice and help with how to fix this problem too. Any more thoughts on what is causing our problems?

Check the IAC (idle air control) Valve. The position of the solenoid is controlled by the TPS, so verify voltage throughout a full throttle sweep. Another common culprit is the EGR valve, just fabricate a blocker plate and take that out of the equation all together. The 95' ford PCM will operate just fine minus any EGR flow.
