I looked at and test drove a 96 F350 dump. The dump has new tires, brakes, battery, 98,000 miles, 460 gas engine, dump body is in good condition with tarp and new strobes, no body rot or rust. Interior is in excellent condition. He is asking $9500.00 OBO. Is this a good deal? Thanks in advance, TIM

Why would you want a 460?

    Thats a horrible combo.

Let me first start off with the obvious... the 460 will drink a lot of gas. Once you get passed that it is a great engine. These are work trucks, not hybrid tree hugger white collar commuter cars that need to be plugged in every night. From the decription is sounds to be a good truck. Is it a 4X4? That is worth a good chunk of change there. I would say that $9500 for a 12 year old ump truck is a little steep. While you pay for what you get, I'd say probably $8000 tops if it was me. JMO.

The 460 engine is good yes it likes fuel don't expect any better than 8 mpg.

The main problem with a 1 ton dump is the lack of payload they are okay for light loads. If this truck has a plow on it stay away from it not worth the headaches.

You are better off trying to find a 1.5 ton truck more payload and a heavier truck.

I have the 460 in my 96 F250. Pulling my trailer with 2 mowers I get between 7-8mpg and that is on flat land and not putting my foot in it too hard.

Not that I know of off the top of my head (atleast one that I could call a good truck). I'll keep my eye out.
