a guy here has the following for sale, i was wondering if you folks think its a good deal, or if i should try to bargain him down more:
36" exmark mower, backpack blower, weed wacker, brand new trailer w/tool rack, $4000. He didnt remember the brands of the blower or weedwacker when i called, but said they were commercial, and brand new. He used the stuff for a month at his own house, until he realized that landscaping was actually hard work. Thanks for your input, mike

Obviously it would be impossible to say whether or not it's a good deal without knowing the brand names and models of the equipment. And what size trailer?
If he was really using it only on his property, why the trailer and tool rack?
Also it would depend on the condition of equipment.

Considering this year I got my 36" exmark for $2000, 5'x10' trailer $750, shin trimmer $250. This is all brand new and it came to $3,000. Add $400 for bp blower and it only comes to $3400.

So, you might want to just get brand new stuff for around the smae money or less.

It also depends on what model of 36" Exmark. If it was a hydro Turf Tracer, that is worth more than $2000. You don't have near enough information for anyone to help you on this one. Look at all his receipts, that may give you an idea what is was worth new.

I agree if he wasn't commercial why the trailer and rack?

Thanks for your responses, he was going to go commercial, but decided not to. I will try to get him to fax me his reciepts (he is 2 hours away). Thanks for your help, i will try to get more info, and re-post.

seems high to me for someone selling out. I'd think twice.

you have to know what brands - there is a dozen different prices of equipment - you might be onto something - you might not - if the equipment is 1 month old its probably good stuff - dont change that you need to know what brand name the merchandice is.also did he pay cash for it all at once or is it financed?
