I basically did the same thing a few years back.
As far as Station Master I use one along with the 200EP Tone Probe. (Station Master Kit)
Last week I used it to locate a bad splice in a splice box by checking for tone on either side of the splice. Sure 'nuff the wire was broken off inside the splice.
sprinkus, here's an interesting fact/tip that i got from a telephone buddy.
when working in the B box they can speed up the locate of a pair by holding the probe in one hand and after wetting (licking) a finger, they touch all of the terminals with that wet finger...just run your finger down the strip.
what happens is that your body acts as an insulator, i do this on individual wires in the field and on the terminal buss in the controller.
i know that it sounds funny but, how many of you guys have stuck both of the probes of your multimeter in your mouth? right now my resistance reads
