Walk behinds have much more power and are easy to use if you have to use one for extended periods of time. They also have the advantage if you are edging a place that has not been kept up.

Stick edgers are used for your everyday maintence jobs, ie your weekly accounts.

The only way I could justify a walk behind is if I had a large apartment complex (or the like) with many many feet of edging.

Ever since buying the shidnaiwa LE260 stick edger, I've not used my walk behind once. Thick, new, old, overgrown, doesn't matter. Eats it up. Between that and the T270, there isn't an edge I can tame.

P.S. Walk behind edger for sale :)

  4. i like the stick edgers one less thing to be on the trailer to take up space.

With a star or 8 point blade a good stick edger will power though overgrowth to.

Very rarely carry the john deere e35 walkbehinds any more ...they just been collecting dust.

    Hey Nest,
I wonder if there is a way you could convert your walk behind edger to a bed edger? Not nessessarly for establishing new bedding areas but just for maintaining existing bedding edges.
I remember hearing or seeing someone talk about it but I never followed up on the conversation. You might find a use for your edger yet.
BTW, did you get mardi gras out of your system for the year? I had to recover for days following tuesday on St. Charles. I think that at 26 I am getting too old for carnival. LOL

I use my wb for over grown stuff. I take the stick almost every day. One of the best pieces of equipment I ever bought. $50 from another lco, a shinawa model. My wb, which is a kees, is a pain to cart around.

I use a stick edger and like it alot. Very versatile.

BTW Odin, does Deere still make the e35, or any other model of walk behind edger? I don't want a new one unless it is the only option, but am hoping to come across come an older Deere fixer-up for cheap, maybe at a garage sale or something, and put it into service.

I took it easy this Party Gras season. Guess I'm getting too old too. 8(

Convert to a bed edger? Well, here's what I do. I just adjust the stick to it's deepest height, perfect for maintaining bed edges.
