    Hello Exmark,

I am a homeowner with a 3/4 acre lot and I am looking to purchase a used Exmark walk-behind mower from another local homeowner. I was wondering if you can comment on the value of this mower:

1999 Exmark 48" Metro M4814KA with a 14hp Kaw. double belt drive - serial #192291. One owner with less than 200 hours. Serviced at local dealer. Includes mulch kit, bagger and sulky. Asking price $1,000.

I haven't seen the mower yet and I was wondering if there were any particular things I should look at when inspecting it. I appreciate your help. LB

First of all, I would definitely run the machine to ensure it operates correct, and there aren't any strange noises coming from the engine or spindles. After that I would inspect the belts, and overall appearance of the machine. How beat up the machine is, can be a good indication of how it was cared for. However, this is an 8 year old machine! The underside of the deck could also be a good place to inspect for corrosion.

    Good Luck,
