aerate and top dress?

    That's the problem with aerating... you end up driving all over the ground with some type of rider dragging around a chain link fence,,, doing as much wheel weight compaction in one day as,, 6 weeks of mowing... and if the ground is a little wet and with clay loam, it is going to be even worse...

    Small spined roller attached to the rear of the aerator might do the trick,,(for breaking up cores in one pass) but maintaining ground contact on the back of an aerator could be challenging... but if the spines were close together, blunt and only an inch long they could crush the plugs into separate smaller pieces...
