a friend of mine just completed the required courses for the nj pest license. in one of his courses, he was taught that aeration should be done ONLY in the months of june/july/augest. now, i'm no expert, but this sounds wacky. opinions please

I do my aerating from Mid March till early June and from Mid Sept till late October.

Its to damn hot and dry around here to do it in July and August.

when i went, there were no required courses. you simply paid the aplication fee, paid for the books (that never adressed aeration at all) and took the test. even in my recertification courses, they adressed the importance of aerating, but the instructor said " when the grass is actively growing."

Yup, what good does it do if the grass is not "ACTIVELY" growing?
If the lawn is dormant or near dormant as it is in July, what purpose does it serve?

But as long as your customer is watering the hell out of it from July to Sep then its ok?
