Is it best to use an aerator that just pokes holes or one that pulls out the plugs? It seems that if it just pokes holes then you are not doing any thing for soil compaction. Does the Bluebird aerator pull up plugs?

Probably every Ag university has done a study on this. The conclusion?? hollow tines that pull plugs are better than solid tines that do not pull plugs. Solid tines tend to compact the soil, especially at the bottom of the hole.
