Just received a flier for "liquid aeration" supposedly a local company has an aerator that uses water instead of mechanical methods of aeration. Anyone here using one, in theory it might make it a lot easier to aerate yards that have sprinklers.

Water injection aeration has been around for years. It is mainly targeted at golf turf, because it does not interfere with immediate play after aeration. Water injection can also be used for fert and insecticide application. But machines are costly.

I don't think they would be useful in thatch control, where core aeration is so beneficial. And actual aeration effect will depend on proper maintanance and setting of machine pressures. Ther may be a market in high end properties where on could accomplish aeration without the mess of cores. Check with your state extension turf specialists on results of this type of aeration in your own soils.
