When is the best time to aerate? What are the benefits short and long term.
In your area most people aerate in the fall. It opens up the ground after a summer of compaction. Summer is generally too hot and dry and aeration can further dry out the soil. Spring generally is very busy for most lawn care companies which combined with unpredictable weather, rain, snow, cold, etc. makes scheduling aerations difficult.
