why do you need to power rake? Is that the same as dethatching?

If you're gonnna aerate, why do you need to power rake? In my area we have Turf Type Tall Fescue, which if you aerate it really good then you dont need to power rake. Of course we also dont aerate in the spring here either, I mean some people do but you shouldn't. Spring time here, is the time for Pre-Emergents and Post emergents. What type of grass are you using in Michigan???

I use this basic guide to price walk-behind core aeration:

    1/4 acre lot (~11k sq.feet): $40.00
    3/8 acre lot (~16k sq.feet): $50.00
    1/2 acre lot (~22k sq.feet): $60.00
    5/8 acre lot (~27k sq.feet): $70.00
    3/4 acre lot (~33k sq.feet): $80.00
    7/8 acre lot (~38k sq.feet): $90.00
    Full acre (43,560 sq.feet): $100.00
Beyond the acre it's $25 per 1/4 so $100 / acre after but I'm not so sure I'd want to walk more than 2 acres.
    Minimum $40

it cost around 50 bucks to rent one....more if it gets delivered by the rental store. so even the smallest lot gets a 65 dollar plugger fee. thats the way i do it.

    thanks
