I have a sodded lawn which was laid last spring and now I am seeing seeding on top of the grass even after I cut it at 3.5".

Is this beneficial in adding to seed my lawn further or will the grass just die off ?

It is a natural seeding of the grass. Sorry the seed will not mature for 6 months, so no it will not benefit the lawn. You will mow it long before then. The seed stalks (straw) will die in 4 weeks, collapse and decompose. Certain varieties are prone to this problem. Tough to cut. Sharpen the blade. Cut short to remove the stalks--then let it grow a little taller for next 4 weeks, to help hide the cut-off stalks.
