I am looking to buy an air compressor, Some that I have seen list there output CFM@90 and the output CFM@40. What does this mean? Do different tools run at different CFM. What does it mean when it only lists 90CFM and not 40CFM.

CFM is an acronym that stands for "Cubic Feet per Minute". It is a measurement of airflow at different tank pressures - in this case 90psi and 40psi. Different tools are recommended to run at different CFM (it will usually say on the tool packaging).

It may not mean anything if the CFM is only listed at one pressure. It just means they didn't provide that information.

The best thing is to decide what you will/may use it for and buy a reliable unit that fits your needs.
