    I have a 32" Scag with a 12.5 hp Kawasaki FB460V-ES36 engine. It doesn't have any spark.
This engine doesn't seem to have an ignitor (control module). Apparently they made engines without the ignitor module.
I replaced the coil with a new one with no luck.
All resistance checks are right on according to the manual.
Flywheel magnet seems as strong as an identical machine that I also have (also no ignitor module on this engine).
Disconnected the safety wiring to by pass all that...no luck.....no spark.
Everything including all settings and measurements are the same as my identical machine...which runs great. Where would the ignitor be located? I can't find one on either machine and was told that some FB460V engines didn't use an ignitor module, but maybe I am missing something here. Also the wire that goes to the coil primary is a single wire with no additional spade connectors to go to an ignitor. I am really puzzled.
    Help.

i know that the newer kaws had no ignitor, it was built into the coil. Check the wire that goes from the coil back to the key, or saftey switch to see if it is grounded. Check air gap! flywheel magnet rusty?

Your spec engine does not have a igniter, Check as leeker suggested.

Possibly they sold you the wrong coil ?

You need part# 21121-2086 for the non igniter system and set the air gap with any business card.

A little off topic, But where about is that town you live ? Never heard of that one....

Thanks for the reply. The coil that I purchased is # 21121-2008. Probably wrong on my part. The local dealer that I called said that I needed the above part number and an ignitor, but since I didn't see an ignitor, I just bought the coil. Bad choice.
Another question?? Can I just add the ignitor with this coil....since I can't return the coil??
I actually live in Loxahatchee, FL.....in what was once the woods...Now it looks like an extension of Dade and Broward Counties.

Loxahatchee is due west of Palm Beach (half way between the ocean and Lake O). Lion Country Safari is located here.

    Well,

I have never performed this swap before, The flywheel between the two systems is a different part number.
I'm un-sure of the exact difference but could very well be the magnet size/configuration.

For 10 bux more than the igniter and hook-up wire pigtail you can purchase the proper coil (number I posted) and know it will work.

    Good Luck

Got a sister in Ft-Lauderdale but with traffic down there never really done that much sight seeing to the surrounding areas.

Yeah, I believe in that one too.....

I have only been down there a couple times, The last being back in March to buy my Jeep from her neighbor. I couldn't get back up here to my one traffic light town fast enough. :)
