Does any one know where to find interested buyers or sellers for a small lawn care company besides word of mouth, & the local newspaper classifieds? It seems I remember reading something about brokers or lawn industry groups that specilize in doing this. Have not really found any details on this subject. has any one else ever done this with any of the above people? Any leads or suggestions would help.

    Thanks, Rob

Small company's are not brokered. But what do you call a small company?

Small company, less than $40,000 gross per year, and a one man operation.

A broker wont usally touch anything under 120k, try the newspaper or tell your dealer your looking to sell, he may know of someone that will buy.

Put a wanted add in trade papers in your area. Also send out letters to all registered landscape company's under 50,000 dollers in your area asking if they would like to sell?

check with your local equipment and rental dealers --- they usually have the heads up as to whos expanding and downsizing.

Ok I expanded not much but enough. Went in to buy a couple of items in local shop and heard that such and such was hangin in the towel. I knew that all of his accounts were underbid.
    What did I do. Well!
I went and talked to such and such. Offered him for his only piece of equiptment that I wanted. Told him he underbid and that it would take a miracle for any one to buy but equiptment and that was yard sale anyways.
I come out with a almost new husky trimmer and 15 new lawns for 150.00.

    Why ?
I heard such and such is throwing in the towel at the shop.
As for selling and being under 40gs a year. Good luck.
Stop and ask other Lcos if they want them most will tell you no but hey its worth a try.

By the way all the 15 new lawns took a 15 buck increase. A cut!

Here is a site that I found which sells businesses. Maybe it will give you a few ideas. There are a number of LCO listed.
