I'm a fairly new LCO that does mainly maintenance. I'm thinking about getting into doing residential irrigation. I don't want to start offering the service without at least learning about it first.

    Some questions:
What are my options for learning about the business? (Working for someone is not an option as with being a fulltime FF and running my business, I have no schedule for it).

What are the approximate start-up costs? I don't have a skid/mini skid, but have looked into those smaller trenchers or machines like the Line-Ward, but have no prices.

Any information or advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you checked out the thread at the very top of the main Irrigation page, titled "Sticky: Getting Started in Irrigation - Forum Members Advice"? There's lots of good info there. And here's a link to the Irrigation Association's home page- http://www.irrigation.org/.

Well, believe it or not I hadn't even seen it. Found a course entitled "Irrigation system installation and maintenance" in Atlanta in August. Gonna try to attend it.

    Thanks
