i need to make a decision in 24-48 hrs. i have 2 scags with l/c kawa. 1 22 hp & 1 27 hp. 22 hp has been good. 2200 hrs & no problems. 27 has 1500 hrs & using 1 to 1.5 qts of oil every 8 hrs. buying another scag & i'm needing input on the 29 kawa & the 31 briggs/vangard. i also have a g/h w/kubota diesel. i am not new to this site or this bizz, but i have no experience with air cooled engines (which the 31 is). I just prefer l/c engines, but with the oil consumption on the 27 kawa i'm leaning towards the briggs. any experience with either of these engines would be appreciated. please don't suggest another mower brand. i'm very open minded, but the scags "work" for me... thanx,,,,,larry

I think the 27l/c and 29 are the same, less the efi.The briggs has an impressive torque figure, and I have had good luck with a 20hp..I would still choose the kaw!My 27l/c also uses a little oil,but runs like a top.If you stick with a 29efi,air,22,27,29 and oil filters all the same, cheaper in bulk.
