I think you should go for it. Once you have one you will find it to be irreplaceable. You can do so much more with one than a regular P/U. We use ours during the season as a maintenance rig. In the off season it is used to supplement the install crew by hauling mulch/tractors/sod/plants.

I know those little COE trucks can carry a good load a friend of mine used to have a W-5 GMC high cube van he used to put 5-6 ton onto it. I think he grossed it 22,000lbs once I couldn't believe it but the van made it to the destination with the load.

I went and test drove a new 4500 Topkick today. They seem awfully big to drive everyday into neighborhoods. Are any of you using them for everyday mowing crews?

We do. Much easier than pulling a trailer around all day.

Avery I'm not looking at a cab over truck. I'm looking at a 4500 Kodiak or Topkick. I will be putting a dump bed on the truck and pulling a 28ft enclosed trailer.

Gravel Rat- I'm sorry to hear about your problem with the C4500, I just didn't want something that everybody and their brother has. I like to stand out of the crowd, thats how people notice you.

Hazell- The bed on the truck is a Rugby dump bed. The sides can be taken off in sections to make it a flat bed as well. The trailer we just got was a 8.5X28' STE Race car trailer.

We have a Chevy 4500 got it last year. The truck is awsome you will not be sorry if you get one. We have a 11' Rugby Dump bed, 10' Fisher Plow and 5yd sander on it. The truck does everything you would want, plows snow, hauls lots of mulch, pulls the trailers awsome and is just great to drive. Much better than a One ton and even a little cheaper. We use it all summer towing a 24' landscape trailer with a few mowers on it and the truck does fine, we even use it to mow smaller lawns it gets a little big putting in front of houses and neighborhoods but the truck is great, the allison transmission is awsome, and the visiblity and turning radius is great. THe only bad things is we didnt get the bench seat so we can only have two people in it and the body builder didnt put a large enough hoist in it but other than that it is great. Just my two cents
