I'm thinking about buying a used bobcat (but in good shape), and a mid-sized dump truck to go with it. I'd like to run ads in local periodicals.
I had to pay a guy to haul 13 yards of dirt out of my backyard a year, or so ago. He came in with a bobcat, and dump truck, and had the dirt all loaded up in an hour. For this hour's work he charged $200. I've never made that much mowing.
If anyone has any ideas, or input about this line of work, I'd love to hear it.
Victor

You can make good dollars doing sand-ups
and construction site clean ups.You gotta
have the 4 in 1 bucket to do it properly.
You'll probably need other attachments as
well,eg.spreader bar,post hole borer,ect.

Karl
Hey Columbia Power. What advice would you have for a guy who wants to get into that type of work, but hasn't had a chance to make any mistakes? Is there a certain type of skid steer to get, or stay away from. Any tips on advertising, or structuring the business? How much can you make per hour?
Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Victor

Bought a 1995 Case 1845 last winter. It has 500 hours on it when I bought it. Paid 15,000 for it. Don't see much strictly bobcat work around here. You may starve at first. I mainly see dump truck and backhoe outfits. There is a lot of work for them but there is also a lot of people doing it. Get in with the right peole ie. builders and you will do well. Stop by some new construction and let them know about you.

Good general purpose machines include the
753 Clark,2040 Mustang and the Toyota SDK8.
Stay away from the Skat Trac gear though,
people here have been having a bad run with them.MTD of the skid steer world.
Karl
