Considering the possibility of getting a sting trimmer/edger combo from Echo or Stihl.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these? How does the connection of the different parts feel? Are they sturdy? Any wobble? How do you think the durability of these systems will be? Is there a potential for beakage at the joint?

I have a PAS230 and have had itfor 3 years without any problems. I got the trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, and bruscutter and they all work great and the connection is simple and strong with no wobble.

I have the PAS-265 w/ the rapid loader trimmer, edger & hedge trimmer. I've only had them since March but so far no complaints. Very easy to use & very sturdy..

I own a KM130 R, the biggest Kombi Stihl makes and I love it, I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you're looking at Stihl Kombi units, go with the 90, I know the 55 may be cheaper, but I believe a little more power is better that not enough. An added plus is being used under homeowner conditions it'll last you a lifetime with proper care.

The connection is rock solid on the Kombi units, no weird shimmy's, vibrations, nothing. If you really force the connection, yes, you'll break something. The dealer you are buying from should show you how and how not the make the connection, no offense intended, the connection is idiot proof. You just have to make sure the attachment is all the way in the connection sleeve, if it's not you run the risk of damaging the attachment, the power head or both.

I have the KM110 as well and I love it. I disagree on the power of the 55 vs the 90 though...put a brush blade on the 55 and it will spin up faster. I have the 55 and the 110, I only know this because a friend of mine has the 90 and borrowed my brush blade. Now put the brush blade on the 110 and that sucker will really spin.
