hi yall, just came back from vacation in virginia, we stayed at a campground, and......every single night they drive around in this truck and spray the air for "bugs", they cover the whole campsite and make 2 or 3 passes on each road. my question is, what are they sptraying, and should they be spraying it right in my face? one guy said the truck drove right next to his little boy, and sprayed it on him, then laughed and said well, he wont have to worry about mesquito bites. ill tell u what, if my little guy got sprayed, id of made that guy drink the whole tank. does anyone know what they could be spraying, and if this type of application (spraying around and actually on people) is safe, or even legal? thanx

It's either the state or the city where you were who was spraying. As far as what they spray goes, you don't think the government would tell us the truth, do you? :blob3:

no, as a matter of fact i DONT think they would tell the truth. but the guys who were spraying, i do believe, were employees of the campground, and seemed to care less who was standing there while they were doing this. cant be good for ya, i did notice it was the only campground i ever been to where there were no bugs, almost none at all.

I think you should be concerned. The regulations in VA for a place like a campground would be regulated. Was this a state run campground or a privatly owned one?

well if you stayed in Prince William County then it was for mesquitos and they do this every year around the first of august and stop in 6 weeks. They send out flyers telling when it go on in your area. They say they try and do it at night so less people are outside.

Though were hoping to get a bathroom in our house by this winter soon so we don't have to freeze going to the outhouse.

You might want to check this out. I think that they are regulated. I do not see any reason for them to be exempt. Call the Pesticide office in Richmond (804)786-3798.
