Are you cutting shorter?

I have been cutting at about 3" all summer. Good for the hot weather. Of course it's maintaining cooler temps now. Should you cut shorter now, or do you always leave it long?

I started at 3 1/2 inches and am now at 4 inches. Getting ready to bump back down to 3 1/2. I won't go below 3 inches.

Don't cut shorter than you have to it just makes more work. I'll start taking yards down now a quarter to a half inch a week so they will be ready to seed in Oct.

Thanks. I think I'll drop down a little. I know I need to water, and it's time here to aerate and seed. I have just noticed my grass looks thin a bit, but theres grass beneath, kind of matted and brownish colored. I was wondering if the stripe roller was doing some harm? Thanks again, I'll keep working with it.

Within 2 days it looks like I never even came and mowed. St. Augustine sure loves our sun and tons of rain.

Sounds like you are just getting some thatch buildup. The roller should not be causing that.
