Hi guys, I have an ASV RC50 with a Prkins 50 HP engine. This machine keeps breaking belts, anyone else havinnng this problem? Too tight and it just snaps after 10 minutes use...too loose and the puly slips and melts belt. Alternator adjustment seems like it is at or near its fully extended reach, even though I'm using official belt #ASV 0200-363, Perkins # 080 109 107. I wonder if I should go to a smaller belt, it's a real pain in the @#! Thanks for any advice. Jim.

If the pulley is running out of adj, you wouldn't be able to get the belt tight enough.

The bearing on the alt could be going out, causing the belt to burn up. Try spinning the alt pulley without the belt on by hand. Should be smooth and no excessive freeplay.

Check the alignment of the pulleys with a straight edge, I've seen belts get chewed up like that before.
