I am just about to buy either a rc100 or an sr80.
The sr80 is brand new, the 100 has 600 hours on it and is alot cheaper.
Both are from the local dealer.

Just wondering if anyone has done any comparisons on these two machines?.
    Pros and cons of each?.

I like the track system on the sr80 more, but it does have less hp.

    Cheers

What do you plan on using it for? The RC100 is a much larger machine in terms of lifting capacity, engine hp, and machine weight. Also what condition is the used RC100 in? If the machine is in good shape it may be a good deal to get a larger machine for a lower price especially if machine weight isn't an issue. They are both about the same width.

For me, I think the 80 is the best machine, I have had mine for 2 years, the lower ground pressure and traction are amazing. But if you want mega Power, and probably the best high flow out there I would go with the 100.

The 80 is a better choice then.

Did you test drive a Cat 287 or the Cat 297 before making up your mind

I saw an rc100 w/ cab go for 14,500 on ebay this week. I guess the main thing is what condition the undercarriage is in.

those would both fall into the RC100 size but the 277 is closer to the SR80.

    Thanks for the advice.

I decided to get the sr80. I demoed them both, I thought that the visibility in the 80 was alot better to the sides. I also liked the lift up door and the better undercarriage.
It has less hp, but has alot more than I am used to anyway, I traded up from a bobcat 553.
I also got a 4n1 tilt bucket, but that wont come for about 4 weeks so the dealer is lending me the standard 4n1.

heater and ac is going to be alot nicer than a dusty or cold open cab that the 553 had, and I won't have to wear earmuffs the whole time.

    Cheers Will
